"He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and will not despise their prayer." Psalm 102:17

Newsletter Issue 7 — Christmas 2009

Dear Friend of Agapé Heart,

In this season of joy, I pray that you know in your heart the wonder and the glory of the Incarnation.

For to us a child is born,
  to us a son is given,
  and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
  Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
  Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
(Isaiah 9:6)

I pray that the fullness of the wonderful blessing of salvation for which our Lord Jesus came is not lost to any one of us. And I pray, for those who do not yet know Him at all, that this is the season in which you come to know Him personally. There is simply no life outside of Jesus, whom we celebrate. The greatest miracle, salvation, is found in no-one but in Christ Jesus (Acts 4:12). The One we celebrate is Love (1 John 4:8). He is the greatest gift, and the only gift that we really need. Praise be to God.

I have so strongly sensed the unction of the Holy Spirit to praise Him without ceasing this December, the end of 2009. The Bible says that the Lord is enthroned on the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). You may be going through a difficult season, perhaps financially, in health, or otherwise. But the Lord knows all your needs, and He cares for you. He is worthy of all praise in every season.

There are so many reasons to praise Him.

We praise God for His great goodness, and for the gift of salvation.
We praise God for His unfailing love.
We praise God for His provision.
We praise God for His faithfulness.
We praise God for He is El-Shaddai, Almighty God, and nothing is impossible with Him.

We thank and praise God for, among other blessings, the following:

  • The continued financial support and prayers of friends of Agapé Heart. As a result of your support, we are: providing Christmas meals on Christmas Day for probably over 200 poor people from Amuma and surrounding villages; providing rice for very poor families on Christmas Eve; and distributing clothing to the very needy.
  • All who have specifically contributed to the deep water-well project, for which we are continuing to raise funds.
  • For God's direction and continued provision for Agapé Heart.
  • For partnership with local churches — as prayer partners, in ministering to the poor, and in discipling beneficiaries.

Please pray:

  • for the Christmas service in Amuma, and the provision of food to the poor following the service;
  • for our key worker Pastor Ifeanyi Kalu, who works tirelessly in many roles for Agapé Heart, and for all other Agapé Heart volunteers;
  • for the poor children that we intend to start supporting in the coming year;
  • that in all our endeavours, we point in every way to Jesus, to whom all of the glory and honour belong.

Thank you for your vital support of our work. I pray that you and your family know the deep love of God this Christmas, and every blessing in Christ in the coming year.

God richly bless you.

Yours in Christ
Patricia Newman
